Sarcastic to a fault and an undercover optimist, this is the weird little world that is my life. For some reason and in spite of being really boring, all kinds of wonderful, funny things happen to me. This is my writing experiment. How it’ll turn out or what I’m trying to do, I’ll find out somewhere along the way.

The Next 24

Day two of the 73 hour race to 16 000 words.

I’m writing this at 11 AM because my Mom is actually proofing my story and taking forever! Love her though. I am really tired, not gonna lie. My brain feels sort of like mush. I swear I felt some leaking out my ears last night.

I would feel selfish continuing on about how this is affecting me without mentioning how Meeko is coping. He is not a happy kitty. Normally he sleeps in my chair (as evidenced by the picture below). Aw... look how cute he looks! IT'S A LIE! Don't fall into his trap!

Well, apparently he really likes that chair because he’s been pissy with me ever since this contest started. He’s meowing at me, he’s jumping up on my leg, staring at me as if to say "Move bitch! You're in my chair". And then he'll curl up on my bed glare at me from there! What the hell! It’s my damn chair, it’s my blanket! I had them before you! MINE! He seems to be content sleeping on my bed for now... But God! What does he want me to do? It’s my computer chair! For writing at my computer! You think he's all innocent... this is the dark side of Meeko. Also because I forgot to turn on the flash...

Enough of him. Unlike my cat, Veronica is encouraging me via MSN to “kick their asses” which I would love to do. I’ll have to ask all of you to cross your fingers for me. I still need to type 6000 words and won’t be able to if my fingers are crossed.

----------

My brain is a bit mushier now. It’s 10:00 PM, nearly 12 hours since I first started this post. Goodness! Where has the day gone? The 73 hour challenge continues on as we near hour 48. The good news is that I finished my novella today and will have plenty of time to edit and add as I see fit.

I was also the first of the students to reach 16 000 words causing certain bet-taking judges to eat their words. The losers apparently have to bow really, really low to the winners. I’m still waiting for pictures or a webcast feed of this event. Maybe they’re ignoring my comments in the Chatterbox. But yeah! The one me beat the dozen them! Barely. The girl who finished second probably wasn’t more than five minutes behind me. We’d been trailing each other since mid day yesterday. GO US! Seriously! 16 000 coherent and grammatically sound words strung together in under 48 hours!

My Dad is now reading the finished story. I don’t know how it’s going. Unlike my mom he doesn’t snort or laugh when something is funny. I’ll just have to wait.

Tomorrow I’ll be editing and sometime before midnight submitting. Then it’ll be out of my hands.

Word count at the end of today: 18 142.

PS: Meeko is still pissed.

Lauren.
