I'm always surprised at how productive I can be on a busy day. That sounds strange doesn't it. You'd think on a quiet day where I have all the time in the world to organize myself that I would be more productive. Not the case. On quiet days where I have nothing to do, I get nothing done. Sloth breeds sloth. And aren't you glad because if a sloth ever bred with something else, you'd get a really weird looking animal. I guess being busy and knowing that I have so much to do is that extra motivation. What am I talking about? Well, these are the things I've accomplished today:
1) Went to two classes
2) Meeting with prof (we discussed the final touches on our online journal!)
3) Cleaned my room
4) Finished unit plan critique (but not the adaptation)
5) Made final touches on online journal
6) Went to another class
7) Went to Pride meeting
8) Finalized Pride "Coming Out Tips" document
9) Fixed up Pride site
See? And for the life of me I couldn't get off my ass if you paid me this weekend.
I also found out what it would be like to be an openly gay teacher. My source is very reliable. One of my friends got up the nerve to ask our religion professor. My prof's answer was pretty much what I expected. The world is not yet ready for gay teachers. Well... some parents are not yet ready for gay teachers. Because parents do actually have an astounding amount of power. I probably shouldn't have said that... now you all know! As if you didn't before. One pissed off parent can scare a score of bureaucrats. It's not even a question of Catholic boards versus public boards. Sure Catholic schools follow Catholic teachings, but public schools have every other religion represented and thus far, I've not encountered a religion that says it's okay to be gay.
Random fun fact: If you walk your prof to her car and offer to carry one of her heavy bags, she will give you an apple. I thought it was kind of funny. My mom is calling me a brown nose... whatever. You can never have too much good karma. Can you? I don't actually know. I assume not. Her bag was heavy and she had two other ones! I had to stay at school anyway so I wasn't in a rush to go anywhere. Why not make myself useful and make someone else's life a bit easier? Besides, it's always safer to walk in twos at night. Stupid mom... jokingly taking me down a peg... The apple was a spontaneous thing, but it was really good. I wonder what kind it was...
What else can I tell you. When I'm busy I like to keep busy. It's like busy is a mood that makes you want to do more. I'm quite pleased with everything I got done today. I hope tomorrow goes as well. I have a few things that I'd like to settle, a few things that I'm finishing off and of course, there's Glee.
Lauren
